Should you buy a new gas heater, and do not have a 9kg cylinder, we can supply you with a cylinder.

I have converted my home to gas, where to now?

We provide you with two 48kg LPG gas cylinders that are linked together by a changeover valve, so that you have an uninterrupted supply. Gas Family delivers filled LPG gas cylinders directly to your home/ office / business. Ideally, with two cylinders connected, we’re able to replace one, when empty, ensuring you always have a continuous supply.

We can also supply automatic systems that change over to the full cylinder when the other become empty, it will then notify you and/ or us to send you a refill.- just call us if this option is something you are interested in.

How is my home/ business LPG delivered?

We have trained in house delivery teams that deliver to you and connect the cylinder.

How do I check how much gas is left in my gas cylinder?

Carefully pour some hot water down the side of the cylinder and a line of condensation should appear at the level of the remaining gas. If no line is apparent, you can also wait a few seconds and run your hand down the cylinder. It will feel cool to the touch at the level of the gas. If you see no line and feel no difference in temperature, chances are the bottle is empty. Remember to always use care with the hot water.
Also, please remember that gas cylinders are designed to be “full” at 80% or just over ¾ of their total volumetric capacity. This means that a “full” bottle is never actually completely full because it needs to allow for the natural expansion of the gas if it gets warmer temperatures.

How many litres in a kilogram of LP Gas?

LPG and water have different relative densities or specific gravity. What this means is that, unlike water, 1 kilogram of LPG does NOT equal 1 liter of LPG. 1 liter has a rough density of 0,541 and thus an equivalent 0,541 kg depending on the temperatures of the gas on the day.

Do you supply to other industries and commercial businesses?

Do you deliver on weekends?

Yes , on Saturdays till 12h00

Can I have the gas supply for my hob in the kitchen?

Yes a 9kg cylinder in a cupboard next to the hob. But not under it. The cupboard must be vented. Our installation team can help you with this and issue a certificate of compliance (COC)

If I have my gas supply outside my house can it be next to the back door?

Yes although the following conditions apply:
– Minimum of 1m from a door or window;
– 2m from an open drain;
– 5m from an electrical source i.e. air-conditioning unit; pool pump;
plug point; switchboard; (electrical source of ignition)
– 3m and a firewall from a thatch roof.
Please let our installation team review your site and offer recommendations.

Do I need 1 or 2 gas cylinders?

– Depends on what you have installed and your preferences. One can suffice, but two is always better so that when the gas in one cylinder runs empty, you can change to the next one.
– the correct cylinder size must be selected according to the appliance’s consumption.
Our installation team can help you with this.
